INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRIED FRUIT ORNAMENTS

Dried Fruit Ornaments

by Myra Lukens

Here’s a craft idea that will show your kids how easy it is to feed their backyard birds.  You can probably do this project without shopping for anything special.

All you need is:

* A weather-resistant yarn like polyester embroidery yarn or nylon thread

* A needle that isn’t too small and isn’t too sharp (an embroidery needle works well)

* Different kinds of dried fruit, peanuts, and even interesting-looking seed pods from your yard.  Today we’re using cranberries, raisins, prunes, apricots, and unsalted whole peanuts.

How to make it:

String the fruit and peanuts together, tie the string around an ornament hanger, and hang it outside!

We’ve made long, dangling ornaments that look good when you hang them on your tree.
