Garden Time is out and about again!
Capitol Subaru Garden Dayz is back for our 15th
year. It was canceled a few years ago, but we are now
back to normal. This great event is taking place
Saturday, May 20th between 11am and 3pm at the Capitol
Subaru Pavilion, just off the Salem Parkway.

We stopped by the Capitol Event Pavilion to talk to our
old friend Brian Schindler from the Capitol Auto Group.
He told us that they love having this event. It gives
them a chance to meet the public, even if they are not
shopping for cars. It is not surprising that they
sponsor this great community event, since Capitol has
been involved in the community by supporting lots of
different organizations, including Make a Wish, United
Way and the American Cancer Society.
You can check out a list of organizations they support
here. They also have a dog park so your furry
friends can stretch their legs, and a mile-long wildlife
path if you need a larger stretch!

Brian also filled us in on all the great things you can
find at the event. They will have food carts including a
taco truck, a hotdog vendor and an ice cream truck. You
can also pick up a cup of coffee at the
Happy Heart Coffee Company. There will also be some
great giveaways: There are three packs of garden
vegetables for each guest who attends (while supplies
last). They will also have ‘plantable’ pencils to hand
out. These pencils can be planted when you are done
using them and they will grow different veggies and
flowers depending on the pencil you get. They will also
have a sign up for a $100 gift card to Al’s Garden and
Home. The drawing will take place at the end of the
event and the winner will be notified. They will also
have Subaru-labeled swag for people to pick up.
The Garden Time crew will also be there to meet and
greet attendees. Stop by and visit our booth to enter a
drawing for a $25 Al’s gift card. We will give out one
card every half hour.

We will have a great group of garden plant and art
vendors. Garden Thyme Nursery, Out in the Garden
Nursery, Alpine Gardens, Embroidery Expressions, Branch
Leaf Bloom, Mini Forest, Rita Lee's Nursery, Marilynn
Russell Metal Art and Van Havelingen Herb Nursery. The
Oregon Orchid Society will also be there and will do
demonstrations and sell orchids. There will be a kid’s
area where kids can take home a sweet pea kit for
growing their own sweet pea flowers. The Oregon Humane
Society will also be there with a professional dog
trainer to answer your dog behavior questions.
Their pavilion is wide open and the weather is expected
to be warm and sunny, and everything is under cover to
protect you from the sun. Stop by and see us during this
great event and say hi!
