Arbor Month
Celebration and 90th Birthday Party for Hoyt Arboretum
April 1-29, 2018
Hoyt Arboretum, Portland, OR
This year is particularly special, as it marks the 90th
birthday of Hoyt Arboretum’s founding in 1928. The
Arboretum invites the public to celebrate 90 years of
loving trees with a family-friendly birthday party on
Saturday, April 28, complete with music by local
entertainer Mo Phillips, cake, crafts, and storytime on
the Redwood Deck with Timber Joey from the Portland
Timbers. “During April, there are so many ways for
Portland residents to enjoy and explore the trees at
Hoyt Arboretum,” says Anna Goldrich, Executive Director
of Hoyt Arboretum Friends. ”Our 90 th Birthday
Celebration at the end of the month provides a special
moment to celebrate those who thought to protect this
special place for the public so many years ago – and
it’s just going to be a really fun day.” Hoyt Arboretum
has 12 miles of trails and 189 acres of forest for
visitors to enjoy, as well as a variety of special Arbor
events throughout April. Hoyt Arboretum is open and free
all year long from sunrise to sunset for the public’s
enjoyment. Parking is available for a nominal fee in the
parking lots. The Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center is open

Hortlandia
Saturday-Sunday, April 14–15, 2018 • 10:00am–3:00pm
Portland Expo Center, Portland, OR
In April of every year, HPSO sponsors an event that is
one of the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
Vendors from far and wide – from nearly the Canadian
border to the California border – come to Portland to
offer the latest plant introductions as well as the
time-tested (and hardiness-tested!) plants.
Complementing the plant vendors are specialty garden art
vendors bringing one-of-a-kind pieces made from metal,
wood, glass, ceramic, fabric, and stone. Each work of
art is handcrafted by the vendor. This is a wonderful
event, and it's particularly nice to have so many
nurseries and artists, with so many plant choices and
specialty works, all under one roof!Admission is Free.
