Wishing Tree
January 25-February 5, 2020
• 12:00pm-2:00pm (Mon-Fri); 10:00am-2:00pm (Sat-Sun)
Lan Su Garden, Portland, OR

Chinese wishing trees, money trees, and hong bao trees are a big part of Chinese New Year festivities. Every year, billions of people around the world gather to toss their red ribbons up into the wishing tree with hope that it will stick and their wish will come true for good fortune in the coming year. Visitors will have an opportunity to toss a wish for prosperity, happiness and longevity into the wishing tree at Lan Su. Your wish (if you're lucky!) will stay in the wishing tree, but you can learn how to make your own wishing ribbons for use at home at this event. Free with membership or admission. Chinese New Year is the most popular time to visit the garden. Plan for the best visit by purchasing your tickets ahead of time and arriving early for your favorite activities.
